  You can use a portal like FindLaw (http://www.findlaw.com) or a meta-site like Vivisimo (http://vivisimo.com) to determine subsequent history of a case. The problems with these means of sheperdizing is that the case may have been overruled by an unrelated case in which event you are not going to find it.

• Tips for searching for people
  1. If you think that a person uses only a first and last name, then enter that name surrounded by quotes. Or use first and last name separated by “and”.
  2. Go to the Staggernation site found at http://staggernation.com/cgi-bin/gaps.cgi which is a proximity search function that works with Google. This way you can enter a first and last name and indicate that each name is within one word of the other. That way if you do not know the middle name you should be able to find the person.
  3. If you have various spellings for a last name and you do not know which one is correct, then use the connector “or” between the two variations.
