Police officer had benefit of presumption that heart attack was occupational disease suffered in line of duty where employer had conducted no physical examination.
1981 City of Waynesboro v. Harter, 222 Va. 564, 281 S.E.2d 911.
Statute created presumption that heart attack of deputy sheriff was occupational disease suffered in line of duty. Statute mandates that employer prescribe preemployment physical examination.
1973 Moore v. A.P. Woodson Co., 213 Va. 464, 193 S.E.2d 800.
Plaintiff’s decedent dies of heart attack 22 months after defendant’s truck crashed into living room where decedent had been sitting. No proof of causation. Not error to strike plaintiff’s evidence.
1968 State Farm Mut. Ins. Co. v. Futrell, 209 Va. 266, 163 S.E.2d 181.
Plaintiff claimed that heart condition was related to automobile accident. Verdict for plaintiff.
1946 Bailey v. Stonega Coke & Coal Co., 185 Va. 653, 40 S.E.2d 254.
In this workers’ compensation case plaintiff died of heart ailment. No proximate cause established.

Workers’ compensation case. Evidence sufficient to establish that heart attack caused by heat.
